Today I walked to the post office to mail out some necklaces and get some groceries. It's not a long walk, only a mile, but there was a wind building up and its supposed to rain later so I left early. On the way a man stopped to pick me up and I accepted the ride, having learned that its the practice here to pick people up alongside the road.
Later after mailing out my package and getting my groceries I went to Ace Hardware to get tiny batteries for my voice recorder and a Melitta pour-through filter. While I was digging into my purse for something a woman noticed right away that I'd dropped a piece of paper from my bag and we smiled "maybe I'll need that". After purchasing the items I was struggling a little bit just to get the package into my grocery bag and the sweet young girls behind the counter rushed over to help me. I had walked almost all the way home when a young man stopped to see if I needed a ride, but I was just about home so I just said "next time" I haven't blogged in awhile, but this seemed like a worthy reason. I feel very held on this day here on Molokai. love to you all...robin |
